It’s that time of year where students begin searching for summer jobs! Do you want to find the perfect job this summer? This workshop can help! Sign up now for a free 3 session Basin Youth Network job readiness workshop where you will gain valuable skills to get ready for your next job!

For Trail and Rossland youth workshops take place via Zoom on April 7, 14, and 21.

Every week on Tuesday afternoons the YAN will be delivering groceries, recipes and instructions for teens to cook their own meals for their families.

Teens can cook in their own time but will also have the option to cook together with other youth via zoom between 3:30 and 5 on Tuesdays. They can check in with an instructor for tips or further instruction while cooking.

Sign ups will go out each Friday when the menu is released. It will be first come, first serve, however preference will go to teens who haven’t yet received a meal kit.

An excellent opportunity for girls grades 8-12.

Hi Rossland and beyond,

We have had interest amongst youth in Rossland to re-start a previous YAN program called MakerLab (a technology club for youth ages 11-18). In the past, they have worked on robotics projects, graphic design, 3D printing, motion graphics, coding, etc. We are looking for a mentor who is interested and well-versed in some of these aspects of technology (or willing to learn alongside the youth), who has experience working with youth, and who can give roughly 1.5-2 hours every 2 weeks of their time from April-June.

This has been a weird and difficult year. Lots of us have missed out on seeing friends, attending events and participating in clubs. Moreover, many of us are feeling more anxious, lonely and depressed than ever before. If you feel like you need some help, or just someone to talk to, the Rossland YAN is sponsoring counselling sessions for youth with Kootenay Counselling. Register at kootenaycounselling.ca with the note “Rossland YAN” to book your appointment. Parents must sign a form on the Kootenay Counselling website for you to attend these counselling sessions. They can be done virtually or in person, depending on your preference. Limited time offer (until the end of April) so book soon!

On Wednesdays beginning next week, Holly will be at the YAN space for office hours between 2:30 and 5. During this time, you can knock on the door to sign out a number of cool items including:

-ski/snowboard equipment

-laptops
